We are currently engaged in Strategy and Readiness, a crucial initial step towards implementing Workday Student. Over the next few months, the University will concentrate on readiness activities to ensure a smooth and successful transition to the new system. The Planning phase for the Workday Student implementation will commence in the spring, leveraging the outcomes from Strategy and Readiness.
Workday Student is a modern, cloud-based Student Information System (SIS) that supports key processes like registration, academic history, financial aid, student accounts, and grading. This new system will replace the Ellucian Banner platform, offering students, faculty, and staff a mobile-friendly, cloud-based solution that simplifies navigation and streamlines these essential processes.

Implemented in 1998, the University’s current student information system, Ellucian Banner, has served the University for many years but now presents ongoing challenges. A third-party review, incorporating extensive feedback from key stakeholders at MSU Denver, found that the system no longer meets the demands of today’s students, faculty, and staff. For details about how Workday Student was selected, please visit the Student Information System Evaluation Project webpage.
Workday Student’s guided student-journey platform offers a more intuitive and supportive experience, assisting with critical tasks like class registration and program exploration. This platform helps students navigate their academic journey smoothly, meeting important milestones along the way. Faculty and staff will also benefit from streamlined processes, reducing administrative burdens and allowing more focus on student support.
Investing in Workday Student means investing in a future where students, faculty, and staff have the tools they need to succeed.
The implementation of Workday Student will span three years, starting in Spring 2025 and concluding in 2027. Each phase is carefully designed to build upon the previous one, ensuring a seamless and beneficial transition.
