Colorado I Have a Dream Foundation

Volunteer Description: A CIHAD tutor works with Dreamers after school. Planning activities, preparing materials, facilitating activities, etc.

Learning Assistant at Metropolitan State University of Denver

Volunteer Description: Serve as an upper-division students in reformed introductory courses in the role of Learning Assistants (LA). LAs receive special preparation in facilitating learning through questioning rather than through telling in the required STEM Teaching and Learning class.

Summer Science Institute

Volunteer Description: The Summer Science Institute is for middle school students (incoming 6th, 7th, 8th grade). The students will engage in hands-on activities in the STEM field such as 3D Printing, Math, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Rocket Science, Meteorology, Water Environment and Physics. There are four sessions, each session is two weeks. At the conclusion of each session is a day-long field trip to Elitch Gardens to study Physics.

Summer Science Scholars

Volunteer Description: The Summer Science Scholars program will give students entering 10th through 12th grade the chance to explore biology, Chemistry, Computer Science and mathematics concepts in depth. The students will be involved in real world research projects.Must be able to work June 11 – June 29, 2018.  The
hours of the program are 9:00- 3:00.

Girls in STEM 

Volunteer Description: 

Serve as a Middle School Chapter Lead whose primary role is to coordinate and facilitate monthly 2 hour meetings. (Estimated 10 hours a month between prep and day of tasks) At each meeting there will so be a teacher as well. Current Chapters are at North Arvada Middle School, Campus Middle School, STEM Middle School and South Metro High School *
*The high school format is a little different but you are interested in serving at South, simply let them know.
