Events & Co-Curriculum
Students in the Program commit to several experiential leadership components. These programs are designed to compliment what participants are learning in the class work and in the community.
Multi-Day Conferences and Retreats:
At the beginning of the fall and the spring terms, we’ll spend several days focused on leadership development and building a cohesive team. In the fall, we’ll embark on an Urban retreat. In the spring, the group attends the Leadership Immersion Conference.
Seminars and Summits:
Students also attend state-wide events sponsored by the Colorado Leadership Alliance a collaboration of 11 different leadership programs at other colleges and universities in Colorado.
Participants in the program commit to learning about leadership in Denver through service initiatives. Students complete a collaborative project like an art supply drive for the Gathering Place, re-shelving books at the Auraria Library, or organizing a food drive for the MSU Denver food bank.
The role of mentoring in leadership can provide a system of support and exploration. Participants are matched with a peer mentor in the program. Each month, students explore various leadership topics and attend themed events to explore themes such as leadership and the arts, leadership and social movements, and leadership and identity.
