The MSU Denver Tutoring Center is always looking for candidates for tutoring positions, in all subjects. If you are knowledgeable in a specific subject area, have a 3.0 GPA or higher, and would like to obtain some college teaching experience, apply here to become a Tutor. We are looking for tutors in any of the following areas:

  • Math
  • Business
  • Computer Information Systems
  • Computer Science
  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Physics

Qualifications:

  • Must be a current MSU Denver student who has completed one semester at MSU Denver
  • Must be registered for at least 6 credit hours a semester
  • Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher

Compensation:

Hourly Wage:

Peer Mentor

Become part of the Roadways team for the 2019-2020 academic year. Build leadership skills in an enthusiastic and supportive atmosphere. Work with faculty, staff, and other peer leaders to support all MSU Denver students through their college experience. The student staff serve as role models and create opportunities to further connect all students with the MSU Denver community. Roadways Peer Mentors are enthusiastic, flexible, and self-motivated team players who are, of course, proud to be Roadrunners!

Qualifications:

  • Must be a current MSU Denver student who has completed one semester at MSU Denver, as of May 2019.
  • Must be registered for at least 6 credit hours a semester.
  • Peer Mentors set an academic tone for their mentees, so we require a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Collaboration and team work is valuable and necessary for this position.
  • Passion for representing MSU Denver in a professional manner.
  • Eligible to receive work-study funds.(preferred, not required)

Orientation Assistant

The orientation office is hiring Orientation Assistants for summer 2019. If you want to get involved with campus and have, the opportunity to help the next incoming students and their support system while having fun this is the job for you. You will learn to navigate students through the questions they have about our institution and grow as a leader on campus. If you plan to take summer classes, we can work with your schedule.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a current MSU Denver student who has completed one semester at MSU Denver 
  • Maintain a grade point average of 2.5.
  • Be in good disciplinary standing with the University.
  • Exemplify a commitment to MSU Denver’s mission statement.
  • Ability to relate well with students, parents, faculty, and administrators.
  • Interest in helping students and families navigate higher education.

SI Leader

Join the Roadways team for the 2019-2020 academic year and help provide academic support for students in historically difficult courses! As a Supplemental Instruction Leader, you will help facilitate student learning for a specific course and assist students to build effective academic and study skills. SI Leaders plan and lead SI sessions 2-3 times per week – peer-led guided study groups for all students to discuss challenging concepts, share study and test-taking strategies, and collaborate with peers to better understand difficult content. On average, students who attend SI sessions earn higher grades and spend less time studying.

Not only will you help all students find success and improve as learners, but you will also grow as a leader, develop professional skills, and gain a deeper grasp on content that is relevant to your career/academic goals!

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Plan and lead at least two 50-minute SI sessions per week - and promote your sessions to students (we’ll teach you and have lots of resources to share!).
  • Attend all lectures for your designated course as a model student, getting to know the students and staying up-to-date with all course material, expectations, and challenging content to students.
  • Collaborate with faculty regularly to discuss the course and how to best support your students.
  • Meet with SI staff to discuss planning SI sessions, using a variety of learning strategies, marketing your sessions to students, regular feedback, and problem-solving.
  • Join other SI Leaders for weekly trainings to continue developing professional and leadership skills.
  • We are looking for SI Leaders in the following areas: Business, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Mathematics, Psychology.

Qualifications:

  • You will have completed at least 30 credit hours by the end of the Spring 2019 semester.
  • You are registered for at least 6 credit hours next semester.
  • You have an overall GPA of 3.0 or above to help set an academic tone with other students.
  • You are excited to help others and love working with a diverse group of people.
  • You possess good organization, time management, and communication skills.
  • You can attend the required SI Fall kick-off training on August 5-6 to start the year.
  • You can attend weekly (paid) training sessions throughout the semester from 2:00-3:00 pm on Fridays.

Starting salary of $12.00/hour.
10-15 hours per week
