SOMETIMES THE BEST WAY TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS IS TO CREATE A ROAD MAP NO ONE HAS IMAGINED BEFORE.
How do criminal justice, Chicana/o studies, and a love of marketing work together? Perfectly.
When we talk about our students “running their own road” at MSU Denver, Meranda Vieyra is a full-speed-ahead example. She chose her own unique path while studying here by combining a B.A. in Chicana/o Studies with a minor in Criminal Justice. Then, she paved her own way as an entrepreneur in business when she saw an opportunity to put her combined skills to work. As a legal-marketing expert at a major Colorado law firm, she noticed an important gap in the marketplace.
“Whenever young lawyers moved on to smaller outfits, I saw that these law firms generally didn’t have many marketing options,” she recalls. “Obviously, most small law firms and solo practitioners can’t afford $100,000 a year for an in-house marketing director. But these firms clearly still needed help to promote themselves.”
So Vieyra acted on her hunch and launched her own company, Denver Legal Marketing, to provide support to smaller law firms. Voted one of the Denver Business Journal’s prestigious “40 under 40,” Vieyra shows just how far you can go when you follow your passions and take advantage of the many courses and majors offered at MSU Denver.
This is where lives are transformed. Where new paths unfold. Where the future spreads out in front of you.
At MSU Denver, we celebrate that each person’s road is different. Where will yours take you?REQUEST INFORMATION APPLY TO MSU DENVER
