As a graduate of MSU Denver’s new Environmental Engineering bachelor’s degree program you will be prepared for a career planning and designing sustainable environmental systems that maximize quality of life by minimizing the impact of human activity on the environment.
The Environmental Engineering program is a multidisciplinary, collaborative degree between the Civil Engineering Technology program and the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences. You can customize your degree to meet your career goals through electives in disciplines such as civil engineering, geospatial sciences, geology, water resources and or sustainable systems. This flexibility will increase your competitiveness in an evolving job market.
As an Environmental Engineering student, you will study theory as well as experience hands-on learning to reinforce theoretical concepts. Through the Engineering core component, you’ll also gain solid training for the Fundamental Engineering (FE) exam.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics 2016 Occupational Outlook Handbook lists $84,890 as the median annual salary for environmental engineers, with an expected 12 percent job-growth rate. At just over $97,000, Colorado is among the 13 states with the highest annual mean wage in 2016 for Environmental Engineers.

Professor of Civil Engineering Technology Jeno Balogh is the coordinator of the Environmental Engineering Program. He holds a Ph.D. from Budapest University of Technology and Economics.
Professor Zsuzsa Balogh, coordinator of the Civil Engineering Technology program, is a 2017-18 American Council on Education Fellow, one of only 42 selected in the country as an emerging academic leader. She is also a co-principal on Emerging Engineers (E²) Pathways, a $241,170 National Science Foundation grant.
Randi Brazeau is an assistant professor of Environmental Science in the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences. She holds an Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. In addition to teaching at MSU Denver and Virginia Tech, she was an engineering analyst at Kimley-Horn and Associates.

Facilities and Resources
Part of the Department of Engineering and Engineering Technology, the Environmental Engineering program is housed in MSU Denver’s new Aerospace and Engineering Sciences Building (AES).
The AES building provides a space where the study of Electrical, Civil and Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Design, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Aerospace Science and Aviation Technology are integrated through the Institute for Advanced Manufacturing Sciences.
Certain students will have the unique opportunity of working with York Space Systems’ production facilities and Mission Operations Center on the AES building’s enterprise floor.
