WHAT: MSU Denver’s Center for Innovation is hosting “Own It,” a free community festival to showcase student entrepreneurs, local businesses and performing artists. The all-day outdoor event includes performances by notable local bands, an evening fashion show, dance performances, student businesses and sponsor merchant tables. The festival will showcase creative businesses launched by Center for Innovation students such as Driftin’ Suns band manager Angela Kerr, Luna Cash’s Tetra Incendia theatrical fire-and-dance troupe, and the 2013 Student Entrepreneur of the Year Adrian Barragan and his Denver Fashion Truck.

WHY:   The Center for Innovation organized this free community event in partnership with Colorado Music Buzz Magazine to support professional development opportunities for local entrepreneurs including MSU Denver student- and alumni-run businesses. One of the center’s goals is to advise creative professionals in launching and promoting their businesses to achieve entrepreneurial success. The event generates awareness and support for Center for Innovation community-focused programs such as CREATE MSU Denver and the Franchise Ownership Program.
