WHAT/WHO: The Boardroom Finale for the Apprentice Challenge @ Metro State.

The semester-long program at Metropolitan State College of Denver, spearheaded by the Alumni Association and Office of Alumni Relations, has followed 10 Metro State juniors as they compete for a full-tuition scholarship at Metro State and a one-year paid internship with a local company for their senior year.

Since January the student teams have developed and implemented four service projects, while being mentored by professionals in the local business and nonprofit community. Their projects have surrounded healthy menus in downtown restaurants, the homeless, urban education and “going green.”

WHY: CBS has “Survivor,” ABC has “Oprah’s Big Give,” NBC has “The Apprentice” and CW2 has “America’s Next Top Model.” These are but a few of the reality-based TV shows that have become very popular worldwide as they follow participants through a series of challenges. In its own backyard, this past semester Denver has had a reality-type challenge with an educational twist – the Apprentice Challenge @ Metro State.

At the Boardroom Finale, the audience will view exclusive film footage of the four challenges then cast their vote for their favorite Apprentice. Proceeds from the event will support endowed and annual tuition scholarships as well as Alumni Association programs at Metro State. Tickets are $25 and available at the door.
