From landing your first job to advancing in the field, these Petroleum Land Management Program certificates are for you.

MSU Denver's Petroleum Land Management certificates are designed to fit the needs of a variety of professionals and they prepare land and land administration professionals for long-term success in the energy industry. Our certificates and courses are offered in partnership with Petroleum Education Workshops, the premier educational and training center for oil and gas personnel.

Courses cover topics related to every domestic oil and gas state, are one-month long, and are accredited for 12 continuing education units to maintain certifications awarded by the AAPL, NADOA, and NALTA.  Students are encouraged to take a single course or all courses that apply to a specific PLM Certificate.

All curriculum relates to the United States domestic oil and gas industry as a whole. Several courses deal with state specific legal concepts of development and ownership, and many deal with issues that apply to any and all of the nation's oil and gas Basins including the Permian, Fort Worth, Anadarko, Western Gulf, Denver, San Juan, Williston, Appalachian, and Michigan.

books

Before a company can begin drilling for oil or gas, they need to own the rights to the oil and/or minerals owned by the mineral owners. Field landmen are the ones who bridge the gap between the oil companies and the landowners. While field landmen are sometimes hired by energy companies, they more commonly work as independent contractors for brokers, who hire them to perform the services required before any drilling can commence.
