About the Ombuds

Who We Serve:

Faculty, staff both (classified and administrators), student-employees and interns.Panoramic view of the Tivoli building Our services regarding  student-employees and interns are limited to workplace and employment related issues only.  The Ombuds also serves external constituents who have business with the University and are having conflict, concerns or other issues related to being heard, fairness or need clarity as to policies.  Additionally, the Ombuds can help these constituents locate the appropriate place to present their issues.

  • Harassment and discrimination
  • Untangling complicated and complex situations
  • Questions and clarification relating to policies and procedures
  • Workplace disputes
  • Ethical dilemmas

  • Disciplinary issues
  • Bullying, mobbing and incivility
  • Health and safety concerns
  • Unprofessional conduct
  • The need to discover, frame and discuss issues in appropriate ways (coaching)
  • Threats or retaliation
  • Ways to make or seek an apology
  • Academic honesty
  • Tenure issues
