You can access the Auraria Campus wireless network from any laptop equipped with a wireless network adapter. For a list of current locations and detailed instructions on how to connect, visit MSU Denver Wireless.

  • Typically, if your network wire is properly connected the illuminated indicator near the connection on the back of your computer will be green. If the indicator is flashing, it is OK as this shows normal network activity.

  • If you see an indicator that is other than green, please ensure that the wire is fully engaged on both ends (in PC and at the wall jack)

  • If you still need assistance, please call the Metro State Help Desk and provide them with both the computer ID number and the number printed on the wall jack, if possible.
  • In an effort to enhance the students' learning environment, the Auraria Campus is in the process of remodeling shared classrooms. These new learning environments (called CIP classrooms) are equipped with phones, projectors, stereo systems with CD and cassette players, AM/FM radios, DVDs, VCRs, and network access jacks.

    • Metro enabled network access jacks are marked blue with a big blue M beside them;
    • UCD jacks are either black or yellow;
    • CCD jacks are purple;
    • Phone jacks are always yellow.
  • To place an order for a new telephone jack, please contact Metro's Business Services office (303-556-3030 or fax 303-556-5023). Installation cost per telephone jack ranges from $350 to $500, based on time and materials. AHEC will perform an estimate, if needed. Depending on the scope of work, there may be an additional charge for the estimate.

  • Orders for network data jacks are placed through the Metro State IT Services Help Desk ( or 303-352-7548). The cost for a network data jack is $350 to $500, but may be more if additional network electronics are needed or if the location selected for the jack does not have the basic infrastructure for networking. When the network jack is ready, IT will provide network cables and assist with connecting the technology equipment (such as a printer or workstation).

    • Q: What information do I need before placing an order for a telephone or network jack?

    • A: A description of where the jack should be located. If the description is complex or large, a map of the room or area marking where the jack will be installed should be provided. Also provide a FOAPAL to which to charge the order.

    • Q: How long will it take to install?

    • A: Typically two-three weeks. A time estimate can be provided when the order is placed.

    • Q: What is the monthly charge per jack?

    • A: Telephone jack monthly charges vary according to the services provided. There is no monthly charge for a data jack.
