Metro Print is active on all computers in Information Technology Service Computer Labs.

  • To access Metro Print, users must login to the computer using the user’s computer lab credentials. If the user is unable to login to the computer, the lab technician on duty can assist the user or they can call the MSUDENVER IT Help Desk at 303-352-7548 to reset the user’s password.

  • On the “Home-screen”, the Balance Box will automatically display in the upper right hand corner. This tool allows users to view the current account balance. In the bottom of the display box, the “Details” link navigates users to the Metro Print website. To access Metro Print directly, users can visit: print.msudenver.edu.

Summary Tab

  • The Summary Tab displays the account activities. This includes the remaining balance, total amount of completed print jobs and environmental impact.

Transaction History Tab

  • The Transaction History Tab displays and tracks the user’s transactions. This includes the print locations, the computer used to print, costs, and remaining balance after each use.

  • Users can also check credit added to the user account. Credit can be added via Pay Station machines located in various labs.

  • In the event that a user requires a print credit refund, the user will have the ability to check the status of the request from this tab.
    • Print credit requests are processed within 48 hours.
    • Print credit requests are only honored when there is a technical or mechanical defect/issue that caused the job to misprint.
      All requests based on user error will not be credited.
    • Examples of common user errors include:
      • Printing documents directly from the Blackboard site without using the proper program to open the document first prior to printing.
      • Printing PowerPoint files as full-page slides, instead of handouts.
      • Printing large JPEG files with high resolution.
    • Valid technical errors are as follows:
      • The printer runs out of toner, the print job does not come out, or the printer jams in the middle of a print job.
    • If errors occur please see a lab tech or contact the HelpDesk (http://msudenver.edu/msudenverhelpdesk/) to submit a print credit ticket.

Jobs Pending Release Tab

  • The Jobs Pending Release Tab allows users to view all pending print jobs that are located in the print queue. This tab is relevant to printing wirelessly.

Web Print Tab

  • The Web Print Tab is required for printing documents wirelessly.

‌‌Pay Station machines allow users to add credit to their Metro Print account. All active users start each Spring and Fall semester with a $25.00 account balance. An active user is classified as any person who is enrolled in classes for the current semester. Please note that Maymester and Winterim are not separate semesters; the account balance will not be renewed and funds transfer from the previous semester.

  • In order to use the pay station, the user will need to login with MSU Denver computer login credentials.

  • Pay Station machines only accept quarters ($0.25), $1, $5, and $10 bills. No other coins or bills will be accepted.

    No refunds will be given if any other coins or bills are inserted into the machine.

  • To print documents wirelessly, users must be connected to the "Auraria Campus" or  “MetroState” Wi-Fi (wifi.msudenver.edu).
  • Navigate to the Metro Print website at: print.msudenver.edu
  • Login to the website using computer lab credentials.
  • Select the Web Print tab

Web Print

Web print is a service that enables printing from laptops and select wireless devices without the need to install print drivers.

  • To upload a document to print, click on “Submit a Job.”

  • Select if the job will be printed in color or black and white. This will determine which location to which the document/s will be sent.

  • After selection is made, click on “Print Options and Account Selection.”

    • Printing Options

      • Select number of copies desired.
      • Click on "Upload Document".

  • Select a document to upload and print.
    • Click on "browse" to select a file on device. This will open a second window to search for and select a document.

  • The following file formats are supported by Papercut at this time:
    • Microsoft Office Excel: xlam, xls, xlsb, xlsm, xlsx, xltm, xltx.
    • Microsoft Office PowerPoint: pot, potm, potx, ppam, pps, ppsm, ppsx, ppt, pptm, pptx.
    • Microsoft Office Word: doc, docm, docx, dot, dotm, dotx, rtf
    • PDF: pdf

  • Please note that Microsoft documents will print in default settings. For example, if printing a PowerPoint presentation, selecting this option will print out each individual slide as a full page, unless the documents settings are changed. 

  • Once the desired document is found, click “Upload & Complete.” The Document will be held in the virtual queue to be released at the Control Pads located in select computer labs. Documents can be held in the printing queue for 1 hour. All documents that have not been released will automatically be deleted and removed from the printing queue after 1 hour. Users will not be charged for deleted documents.

Control Pad

  • Control Pad (C-pad) is a device for users to manage print jobs uploaded wirelessly. The C-pad allows users to release or cancel print jobs.
  • Users can login using computer lab login credentials or 900 numbers.

  • Once the user is logged in, the C-pad will display the print jobs submitted by the user. The user has the ability to cancel or release print jobs. The cost to print the document will be displayed for each request.
  • Users will have the option to print all jobs in the printer queue by selecting “Print All.” The system will print all multiple documents uploaded, from multiple copies or different documents. Users will also have the option to cancel single or multiple print jobs. Users may also select specific documents to print by highlighting each job then selecting “Print Jobs.”
