Description:
This College Algebra sequence is designed for those wishing to major in such areas as: Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Criminalistics (Forensics), Geology, Meteorolgy, Physics, or Surveying. A student who took trigonomentry, precalculus or calculus in high school may not need to start out in this sequence and should talk to an advisor in the Mathematics Department so as to not retake material previously learned. When followed by a Trigonometry course, the Stretch College Algebra sequence leads to the Calculus sequence. Some students may wish to take Precalculus or Calculus instead of College Algebra and Trigonometry.

Introduction to Statistics teaches students about statistics and how to handle data. In this course the student learns to use computer software to perform statistical tests and to display statistical data. In addition, students create a small statistical project. Previously some students have done projects comparing the predicted temperature on TV to the actual temperature or have compared merchandise prices between different stores. This class is highly useful to those students who major in areas that make heavy use of statistics such as the social sciences and the biological sciences.
