The People: Clemens Brigl

Clemens “Clem” Brigl, who taught in the Department of Human Performance and Sport for 16 years, died March 19, 2013, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa.

Brigl served in World War II from 1942–45 as a U.S. Navy Seabee in the Pacific Island battles of Guadalcanal, Tinian and Okinawa.

After the war, Brigl went on to complete a doctorate in education in Bloomington, Ind., before moving to Arvada with his family in 1974. Brigl began teaching at MSU Denver in 1976 and retired in 1992.

The family has asked that donations in his name be provided to the National Parks Conservation Association via Dan Brigl at 2429 Brookland Drive N.E., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, 52402.
