Classical Music Insights: Music for Stage and Screen

Facilitated by Betsy Schwarm

Many of us first come to classical music through film scores, but long before there were movies, music was used to  support telling a dramatic tale. It might be found in operas and musical theater, in ballet, or in short pieces meant to accompany a stage drama. All of it served as inspiration for John Williams and other great film composers of today – and of earlier generations. Those ideas will find their place in this survey of music for stage and screen, with music from Mendelssohn to John Williams and more.
