What is a partnership program?

Partnership Programs

A partnership program is one of two of our flagship study abroad program options, and is a popular way for MSU Denver students to study abroad. To see all of our current partnership programs, we use a third-party platform called ViaTRM to house all relevant details.

Partnership Options

Students have many different options to choose from when they want to do a partnership program. These 3 different groups of options are flexible, and may overlap with each other. In fact, we encourage students to combine aspects of different programs. Ready to learn more? Meeting with an advisor is a great way to figure out if a partnership program is for you.

Immersive Education

Looking to be immersed in a different culture? This option allows students to spend an academic semester or year at a university of their choosing. Immersive education programs fall under three types: exchanges, direct enrollment, and approved partner programs.

Exchanges

Students enrolled in exchange programs will spend a semester at a university outside the United States. Coursework is often taught in English, and can either be taken with other international students or students from the host country.

Direct Enrollment

Direct Enrollment

Students enroll directly in regular classes in the host country, and take courses alongside regular students. Compared to exchange programs, direct enrollment is more laissez-faire and flexible – students can enroll in summer, semester, and yearlong periods.

Approved Partner Programs

Approved Partner Programs

Students enrolled in an approved partner program work with a third party such as ISA or USAC to create a custom-tailed study abroad experience in conjunction with universities outside the United States.

Accessible Opportunities

We know that studying abroad hasn’t always been historically accessible. Luckily, today, there are many different ways you can get help supporting your international education. Our flagship pathways to flexible education are Erasmus+ Mobility Grants (International Credit Mobility Grants), the Boren Awards, the Critical Language Scholarship, and the Frederick Douglass Global Fellowship.
