Student Honors Council

The Student Honors Council (SHC) of MSU Denver seeks to support the MSU Denver Honors Program mission to offer a transformative intellectual challenge within the context of a supportive community. The SHC encourages Honors students to pursue interdisciplinary studies, experiential learning opportunities, and in-depth research and creative projects. The SHC shall seek to provide Honors students with the opportunity to speak and be heard by the Honors Program leadership, university administration, faculty, and the community as a whole. The SHC shall listen to students, respond effectively to their needs, provide social events to foster a sense of community, promote the visibility of the Honors Program, and supplement its academic mission.

Bio:

The preferred name is Colton Lee. I have been a student of the Metropolitan State University of Denver for a bit over a year now, and the reason why my level and classification are 'Undergraduate Senior' is because I am a transfer student from the Community College of Aurora, where I earned my Associate of Arts degree in Philosophy. My major is Philosophy and my minor is Psychology. One of my favorite activities to participate in is having hours-long conversations, with any one, for my satisfaction is derived from explorations into subjects on a deeper level than surface.

I am a current and active member of the MSU Denver Honors Program, and serve on the Student Honors Council as Secretary. I am also a member of the Philosophy Club for the University, and in general, I enjoy attending a variety of campus events, especially D-Phi (Denver Project for Humanistic Inquiry) events. Currently under the tutelage of Dr. Megan Hughes-Zarzo, I happen to be an individual who has gained experience working at 4 different college-campus bookstores. Other locations at which I currently work include, but are not limited to: MSU Denver as a Supplemental Instruction Leader, the Front Desk of the MSU Denver Writing Center, the Auraria Library as a shelver, and at an Archives Project as an intern. In case you have yet to pick up on any theme here, I love books. One of the rare things that I may enjoy just as much as reading, is running.
