Department of Education I’M HEALTHY Health Scholar Program

There are three different cohorts for this program, scroll to learn more about the requirement for each cohort.

 

 

 

Tier 1 Eligibility requirements:

You must:

  • Be a current junior in your studies, with 60–90 completed credits
  • Have a strong interest in a mental health career.
  • Have a declared major in Human Services and Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work

You also need to meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Low-income/Pell-eligible (as determined by household income)
  • First-generation college student (neither parent holds a U.S. bachelor’s degree)
  • Graduated from (or attended) a high school that meets one of the following:
    • Title 1 high school
    • School with a low percentage of seniors receiving diplomas
    • School with a low percentage of graduates enrolling in college within one year

Additionally, applicants must be one of the following:

  • A U.S. citizen
  • A non-citizen national of the United States (i.e. be a citizen of: Puerto Rico, Guam, U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Swains Island, Northern Mariana Islands)
  • A lawfully admitted permanent resident
  • Have a Green Card

 

Tier 2 Eligibility requirements:

You must:

  • Have completed a health scholar program
  • Be a current Senior (90+ completed credits)
  • Have a strong interest in a mental health career.
  • Be willing to be a Peer Leader or participate in the Peer Health Exchange Program

Additionally, applicants must be one of the following:

  • A U.S. citizen
  • A non-citizen national of the United States (i.e. be a citizen of: Puerto Rico, Guam, U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Swains Island, Northern Mariana Islands)
  • A lawfully admitted permanent resident
  • Have a Green Card

Graduate Health Scholar eligibility requirements:

To be eligible for the program, you must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Be a graduate student in your final year of MSU Denver’s MSW program or MS in Clinical Behavioral Health program.
  • Be completing a clinical internship with a local school district (DPS, APS, 27J. or ADAMS14)
  • Commit to participating in all required program activities
  • Demonstrate a commitment to pursuing a career in high school behavioral health.
  • Be available for mentorship and professional development sessions as scheduled.
  • Maintain active engagement throughout the program, including meeting deadlines and fulfilling all program-related responsibilities.
