A planned gift is made during an individual’s lifetime or upon death as part of a donor’s financial and or estate plan. Planned giving often allows for donors to make larger gifts than they could on an annual basis through their discretionary income whether as gifts of cash, stock/securities, real estate, life insurance, retirement plan, etc. For more information on planned giving, click here.
A matching gift occurs when your or your spouse’s employer matches a donation with an equal or greater amount, thereby increasing your contribution. Matching gifts are credited to the same fund as your original gift, unless you, the donor, request otherwise or the policies of your company prohibit matching gifts to particular funds.
You can find out if your or your spouse's employer will match your gift by checking with your employer's (or your spouse's) Benefits or Human Resources Office.
