Spring can be a busy season accompanied with a lengthy to-do list. Spring cleaning, taxes, and maybe even applying to a graduate program.
After our MPAcc March Madness series with weekly events featuring members of our Accounting Roadrunner community, we decided we’d host some traditional information sessions to round out the many opportunities prospective applicants have to connect with us.
First up, we did a virtual information session all about our new Graduate Certificate in Risk Assurance & Advisory. Before we discussed this graduate certificate issued by MSU Denver, we broke down the difference between two different types of internal audit certificates our students could earn.
Through our Internal Auditing Education Partnership (IAEP) with the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), undergraduate and graduate students who complete certain coursework earn an IAEP program completion certificate issued by the IIA.
In addition to this, MSU Denver issues an Undergraduate Certificate in Risk Assurance & Advisory and a Graduate Certificate in Risk Assurance & Advisory. Those who are interested in our MSU Denver graduate certificate must apply to pursue this program.
Currently there are students concurrently pursuing both their Master of Professional Accountancy (MPAcc) degree and this Graduate Certificate in Risk Assurance & Advisory. There is intentionally overlap, where an MPAcc student can tailor their open accounting electives to match the graduate certificate curriculum and complete both programs for the same MPAcc degree total of 10 courses.
One attendee of our info session shared the following:
“This certification will not only garner me education, but also real-life work experience that can be put on my resume. I am so grateful for these info-events, for I have learned a ton from them. Some of them even changed the trajectory of my academic journey.”
-Robert Piña, current MPAcc student
All details about this graduate certificate, the curriculum, and how to apply are on our website here. The deadline for complete Fall ‘24 graduate certificate applications is August 12, 2024, though we are already reviewing complete applications received on a rolling basis – no need to wait until August!
Thank you Jo for taking the time to share all about this Graduate Certificate in Risk Assurance & Advisory with our current students and prospective applicants. Looking forward to seeing how this program and partnership with the IIA continue to grow!
