Technology updates will take place over the holiday break
University-owned Mac computers are transitioning to ESET Endpoint Security; Blackboard Learn to undergo a full-system upgrade.

Mac Antivirus Software Transition
All managed Mac devices will automatically transition to ESET Endpoint Security on Dec. 21 in response to Microsoft’s recent announcement that the company will end support for System Center Endpoint Protection for Mac on Dec. 31. Faculty who have unmanaged devices that still have SCEP installed are encouraged to contact the Information Technology Services Helpdesk at 303-352-7548 or support.msudenver.edu to have their antivirus migrated to ESET before Dec. 31, as virus definitions for SCEP will no longer be available.
Blackboard Learn Upgrade
Blackboard Managed Hosting Engineers will perform a full-system upgrade from 8 p.m. on Dec. 23 until 8 a.m. on Dec. 24. Blackboard Learn will not be available during this time, so please plan accordingly.
The new and improved system has numerous benefits related to features, performance and support, including:
- Keeping the Blackboard Learn 9.1 system in full compliance with Blackboard’s support policy.
- Implementing the Attendance feature, which allows instructors to track attendance in face-to-face courses.
- Resolving various performance and system issues.
Patches will be applied to various operating systems in the test environment from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday. During the maintenance period, the following applications will not be available: Banner, Degree Works, ODS, Document Imaging, Workflow, Self-Service Banner.
On Jan. 4, the patches will be applied to various operating systems in the production environment from midnight until 6 a.m. During the maintenance period, the following applications will not be available: Banner, Degree Works, ODS, Document Imaging, Workflow, Self-Service Banner.
