After-school workshop

The Young Artist Studio offers free hands-on workshops for youth ages 11-21 on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4-5:30 pm. Open studio at 3:30 for early arrivals!

An inclusive and diverse community, we welcome youth from throughout the metro area who are interested in learning a variety of media and exploring contemporary themes in art. In the Studio we practice the skills and self-efficacy of creative leaders and encourage each other to make great original work. Each year we celebrate with an exhibition of work created in the Studio.

Exhibitions at the CVA inspire the themes, media and cultures explored in the workshops. This year's workshops are listed below:

MSU Denver art education students apprentice in the studio developing curriculum and teaching new media to young artists. Graduates from our apprenticeship program enter successfully into careers in schools, community and arts organizations with experience teaching project based, exploratory units based on primary source exploration.  Young artists benefit from instructors enmeshed in contemporary learning theory with expertise in a variety of media.

First Fridays

The studio is open each First Friday for families to make work together! Denver's Art District on Santa Fe hosts a monthly art walk on First Fridays. Families can explore different medium in the studio in response to the current exhibition in the gallery. No registration necessary.

A Note On Accessibility:

CVA is committed to being accessible to all. Visits to the gallery address the human experience and are universally accessible. Our space is navigable for visitors with physical disabilities. Sign language interpretation, large print and translation services are available with advanced request.
