Program Overview

You are invited to join the most rapidly growing profession in the business community. Exploding computer technology will continue to be the number one job opportunity for at least the next 10 years.

The Computer Information Systems Department (CIS) offers a challenging and rewarding academic program that is at the cutting edge of real-world computer applications. Information systems courses include hands-on experience in business computing, problem solving, networking, database software applications; programming language courses in Visual Basic, Java, and PHP; and operating systems courses such as Windows, UNIX, and Linux.

Advanced study is offered in systems analysis and design, database design and administration, telecommunications, local and wide-area networking, data mining, ERP, and Web administration and application development. Internships are available for students to obtain real-world experience in the information systems area.

Our 15 experienced, full-time faculty members are dedicated to excellence in teaching, student development, career planning, student advising, and applied research. A chapter of the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) is sponsored by the department. Opportunities for resume building through real design and applications projects are provided for all CIS seniors. We prepare our graduates for today’s competitive job market.

We have signed agreements with Community College of Denver and Community College of Aurora to engage in 2+2 programs where students after completing their CIS programs can transfer to Metropolitan State University of Denver and continue their studies towards a bachelor degree.

The CIS Program is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET (111 Market Place, Suite 1050, Baltimore, MD 21202-4012, telephone: (410) 347-7700.)
