Latinx Graduation Ceremony
The Metropolitan State University of Denver's Latinx Graduation Ceremony is an annual tradition to honor our impending Latinx graduates. Latinx graduates from the previous Fall semester, the current Spring semester, and the upcoming Summer semester are given the opportunity to be honored.
The purpose of this event is to provide a culturally responsive graduation experience for MSU Denver’s Latinx graduates. The evening’s festivities will include a keynote speaker, cultural entertainment, recognition of the graduates and their families, a presentation of the Espíritu de Aztlán Award, and cake and punch to conclude the celebration.
Now is a time for you to celebrate! Congratulations on your graduation, and thank you from everyone at MSU for making us a part of your journey! ¡Felicitaciones y Buena Suerte!
Please Note: Guest lists will be limited due to capacity. More info will become available when invitations go out during spring semester.
Date: May 2, 2019
Time: 5 p.m.
Location: Tivoli Turnhalle
The Espiritu de Aztlan Award is given annually to a graduating senior from the previous Fall semester, current Spring semester, or upcoming Summer semester.
This award is given to someone who has exhibited not only a commitment to education by earning a degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver, but also a commitment to community service.
Award nominations are due at 11:59pm on Friday, April 5!
Additionally, you can view the award evaluation rubric. Espritu Award Rubric
The Latinx Commencement ceremony is only held once a year at the end of the Spring semester. However, it is not limited only to students graduating during that particular semester! All graduates in the current Spring semester are welcome, in addition to those that graduated in the previous Fall semester, and those that are graduating in the Summer.
Doors will open at 5:00PM, and the program will begin at 6:00PM. Please use the first hour to arrive, check in, enjoy the food and live music, and mingle with your family members and fellow graduates!
The attire for the event is formal, but we are flexible! Given the fact that many of you have class that day, or have jobs you attend, please come in whatever you find comfortable. There is no cap and gown for this ceremony. You will however receive a ceremonial stole that you can wear at MSU Denver’s overall commencement ceremony.
Each graduating senior will receive one complimentary parking pass when checking in. This pass is valid for the 7th Street Parking garage.
Due to space constraints, each graduate's guest list is limited to FOUR (4) guests, not including the student. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this might cause. You should have indicated the number of guests you are planning on bringing in your online RSVP.
Please note: You have the option to have someone special bestow your stole! If you would like to have your friend, parent, child, or whomever is important to you be the one to present you with your stole, you are more than welcome! This is completely optional, as we will also have members of the university upper administration waiting to shake your hand and bestow your stole. If you DO choose to have a family member or friend bestow your stole, they will simply line up with you and walk across the stage along with you.
Nothing! This is a celebration of your accomplishments, and the last thing we want you to worry about is purchasing tickets. Simply show up with your guests, check in, and enjoy the evening!
