Center Staff

All of our advisors are here to assist you. All are generalists and have helped students develop a wide range of Individualized Degree Programs and to earn prior learning credit. Elizabeth Parmelee, Ph.D. Director, has a background in International Studies, education, and non-profit management. She has taught economics in Chile and Boston, and has worked with universities and public school districts to enhance education at all levels. Her email is: eparmel1@msudenver.edu.

Kim VanHoosier-Carey, Ph.D. Individualized Degree Specialist, has taught English, women's lit, and cultural studies. She has served as an academic advisor for students from diverse backgrounds, including first-generation college students, international students, adult learners, and GLBT students. Lisa Kirscht, J.D., M.S. Individualized Degree Specialist, has experience teaching first year law students, as well as advising pharmacy and undergraduate honors students. She is dedicated to empowering students with diverse backgrounds and helping them realize their potential. F. Danielle Forrest, M.A. is the Prior Learning Specialist and Portfolio Development Workshop Instructor.  She has a background in Adult Education, philosophy, and anthropology. She has served in various roles within higher education and is committed to serving student veterans and adult learners. Her email is: fforrest@msudenver.edu 

Susan Heath, M.Ed. Program Manager, has been with MSU Denver for several years. She worked with the Office of Institutional Research prior to joining our team.  She is a 2013 graduate of the IDP program with a Bachelor’s degree in Literacy and Diverse Learners. Her email is: heath@msudenver.edu.

Student Peer mentors are advanced IDP students who are charged with assisting and mentoring incoming IDP students as they work on an IDP proposal.
