Intramural eSports are here!!!

All events listed below are single-elimination tournaments. Most tournaments are scheduled as one-day events, however, a few are scheduled as two-day events. Games will be played on XBOX, PS4 and we are now introducing tournament play on Switch! 

 

No registration needed, just show up to participate.

Just like all other Intramural Sports offerings, current Campus Recreation members can participate in these events at no additional cost. Daily drop-in memberships are available as well. Memberships costs are included in MSU Denver student-fees. Other membership information can be found here.

 

**All tournaments will be played in the conference room of the PE Building, PE001 between 3-6 p.m. almost every Wednesday, unless otherwise noted.**

Madden 19: January 30, one-day tournament (XBOX PS4)

FIFA 19: February 6 and 13, two-day tournament (XBOX PS4)

Rocket League: February 20, one-day tournament (XBOX & PS4)

Facebook Community Choice: February 27, one-day tournament (Console TBD)

NBA 2k19:  March 13 and 20, two-day tournament (XBOX & PS4)

Mario Kart Deluxe 8: April 3, one-day tournament (Switch)

Super Smash Brothers Ultimate: April 10, one-day tournament (Switch)

Fornite Battle Royale: April 17, one-day tournament (Crossplay)

Facebook Community Choice: April 24, one-day tournament (Console to be determined)

NHL 19: May 1, one-day tournament (XBOX & PS4)

 

The winner of each tournament will receive a prize and bragging rights amongst their friends! 

Become an Intramural eSport Champion this semester!

In addition to Traditional and eSport offerings, the Intramural Sports program will also host a couple of Special Events throughout the spring semester!

All events listed below are single-elimination, one-day tournaments.

Basketball Golf: Tuesday, February 26 from 2-4 p.m. on west court in the gym, PE104w.

Augmented Reality Climbing: Wednesday, March 6 from 2-4 p.m. on the climbing wall in the Fitness Center, PE110.

Basketball Golf: Tuesday, March 19 from 2-4 p.m. on west court in the gym, PE104w.

Augmented Reality Climbing: Wednesday, April 3 from 2-4 p.m. on the climbing wall in the Fitness Center, PE110.

Basketball Golf: Tuesday, April 30 from 2-4 p.m. on west court in the gym, PE104w.

 

Basketball Golf is a shooting contest where players take shots from 18 different spots on the court. The player who completes the course with the fewest shot attempts wins!

Augmented Reality Climbing is a bouldering contest where players take turns trying to complete a course or challenge that is projected onto the wall from a computer. The player with the quickest completion time or the highest score wins! Check out the videos on this website for more information.

 

5v5 League play starts on January 28!

Registration opens on January 21 and closes January 25 at 5 p.m.

!!!SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT - NEW THIS SEASON!!!

The winner of our spring 2019 intramural basketball league will be invited to play in the inaugural Front Range Extramural Tournament at the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) on April 27, 2019 against the league winners from 10 other Colorado colleges and universities for a chance to become first ever Front Range Extramural Basketball Champion!

 

Just like all other Intramural Sports offerings, current Campus Recreation members can participate in these events at no additional cost. Daily drop-in memberships are not permissable for this league. Memberships costs are included in MSU Denver student-fees. Other membership information can be found here.

 

Games are on Monday nights on center court in the gym, PE104w and start at 6:30, 7:30, 8:30 and 9:30 p.m.

This league is Open Format, therefore there are no no gender-based requirements for team rosters.

Team rosters need to consist of at least 5 players with a maximum of 10.

Spring 2019 5v5 Intramural Basketball Rules

4v4 League play starts on February 21!

Registration opens on January 22 and closes February 20.

Games are on Thursday nights on the west court in the gym, PE104w, and begin at 5 and 6 p.m.

This league will be OPEN enrollment - there are no roster requirements for the number of males and females that must be listed.

Net height will be set at the men's official height. 

Team rosters need to consist of at least 4 players with a maximum of 8.

Singles and Doubles Leagues both starts on February 21!

Registration opens on January 22 and closes February 20.

Games are on Thursdays on the east court in the gym, PE104w, between 11:15 a.m.-1:45 p.m. 

Teams will communicate between themselves to schedule a time between 11:15 a.m.-1:45 p.m to complete their game. Games will be self-officiated and score will re self-reported to Dave Lamothe at dlamothe@msudenver.edu.

This league will be OPEN enrollment - there are no roster requirements for the number of males and females that must be listed.

"Singles" rosters need to consist of at least 1 player and "Doubles" rosters need to consist of 2 players to move from the waitlist.

Games are on Tuesday evenings on west court in the gym, PE104w, and start at 5 p.m.

This will be a 5v5 league played on a basketball court with no formal goalie position. Out of bounds is marked by the black lines outlining the basketball court. 

This league will be OPEN enrollment. There are no roster requirements for the number of males and females that must be listed.

Kendra Montoya is a current student studying Exercise Science at Metropolitan State University of Denver and is striving to become a traveling Pediatric Physical Therapist. Born in Montrose, CO, Kendra was eager to branch out of the small town and move to a big city. In August of 2017, she joined the Facilities Operations team at MSU Denver Campus Recreation and quickly became involved in other program areas. After accepting a new and challenging position as a Sports Supervisor, Kendra now works with the Open Recreation and Intramural Sports Programs. Her hobbies include photography, social media marketing and of course watching the beautiful game of basketball!

Student Employment Opportunities

Campus Recreation will be interviewing and hiring Intramural Sports Officials and Supervisors for basketball, volleyball, indoor and outdoor soccer. We will provide training - no experience required to apply!
