BUILD aims to build the STEM identity of MSU students and positively impact their persistence, graduation, and progression into STEM careers and/or graduate programs.
Research shows a positive, strong, and resilient STEM identity can translate into greater success. BUILD will strive to bolster student’s STEM identity through Competence, Performance Recognition, and Transformative Co-Curricular Engagement.

FALL BREAK
November 25-29, 2024
1. Meet with a BUILD advisor once per semester 2. Meet with peer mentor once per semester 3. Participate in four required events 4. Participate in two optional events Participate in an internship, research or shadow an internship/research
LEARN MOREBUILD provides a stipend for students participating in non-service research and non-service internship training each semester.
LEARN MOREBUILD strives to bolster students’ STEM identity via competence, performance, recognition, and co-curriculum engagement. Attending workshops/seminars, professional development events and skill-building courses can assist in building a student’s STEM Identity. The purpose of this passport is to encourage you to attend additional activities that help gain skills for STEM careers and/or graduate programs while providing financial support.
PASSPORT TO SUCCESSBUILD Scholars are required to attend 4 pre-selected required events and 2 optional events.
OPTIONAL AND REQUIRED EVENTSAll BUILD Scholars will have a google fold to assist in tracking your events. You must have a gmail account to have access to your folder.
