Meet Your Admissions Counselor

At MSU Denver, we believe that receiving information about us should be easy. That means you can visit with an Admissions counselor any time our office is open. You may also speak with an Admissions staff member or counselor by calling our office at 303-556-3058 or emailing admissions@msudenver.edu.

The Office of Admissions has admissions counselors available for one-on-one meetings Mon. - Fri. from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.  (excluding holidays) on a walk-in basis. All guests will be helped in the order in which they arrive, so plan some additional time to explore campus or visit Dazbog Coffee if there is a wait upon your arrival.

*Counselors will not be available on the following dates: July 19, 2019 (all day) | Aug. 2, 2019 from 8 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Bio:

Luz was born and raised in Denver, CO. She attended Colorado State University as a first-generation college student where she graduated with a degree in sociology. She found her passion working in higher education while working for TRIO Student Support Services . She joined the MSU Denver family in the winter of 2018 where she recruits and further assists students in the transition from high school to college. When she is not out meeting future Roadrunners, she loves to travel, learn new things, and spend time with family and friends.

Bio:

Marcy joined the MSU Denver admissions team in 2017. She attended Drake University in Iowa and worked as a teacher and school counselor before moving into higher education. Marcy has three energetic boys and enjoys spending family time skiing, swimming, hiking and appreciating the numerous parks including the wonderful Elitch Gardens. She loves working at MSU Denver because of the passionate staff, dynamic students and one-of-a-kind environment.

Born in Michoacán, Mexico, Ambrosio has shared his time between living in Mexico, Colorado and mostly California (San Diego and Long Beach). He considers himself a life-long student and is passionate about assisting and recruiting students to MSU Denver. He enjoys art, music, sports and traveling. His favorite foods are Mexican, Thai, Italian and Cuban.

Bio:

Julia is one of the few Colorado natives here at MSU Denver and is actually a product of the Auraria Campus. Both of her parents attended school here - her mom went to UCD and her dad went to what is now MSU Denver! Julia graduated from Fort Lewis College with a degree in English communications, and soon after found her way into higher ed. She loves MSU Denver and all the doors it opens for students from different backgrounds. Besides visiting her south Denver high school districts, she enjoys trying to take Instagram worthy pictures of her hedgehog, Albus, eating too much food and exploring national parks.

Josh joined the Roadrunner family in 2008. He advises students on class selection, develops retention programs and recruits transfer students to MSU Denver. Josh enjoys working at MSU Denver due to the faculty and staff commitment to student success, the access to a high-quality, affordable education and the commitment to diversity.

In his free time, Josh explores the outdoors with his partner and two kids. He enjoys hiking, camping, trail running, biking, reading and laughing. If you have questions about the admissions process or want to have some good laughs, stop by to see Josh in the Office of Admissions.

Bio:

Brigid moved to Colorado from Wisconsin where she graduated with a degree in Spanish from Carthage College. Since then, she has worked in education in a variety of capacities. Having worked with both high school and community college students, her focus is always on student success. She is grateful to have found a home at MSU Denver and looks forward to helping transfer students realize their goals.

In her free time, Brigid enjoys attending concerts, practicing yoga, traveling and hiking in the mountains with her partner and their dog.

Kathryn moved to Colorado in the summer of 2018 after many years of travelling here to backpack, ski and visit family.  Previous to her move, Kathryn taught high school English in Atlanta for 18 years.  She is grateful to have the opportunity to continue working with students and feels privileged to be a part of the staff at MSU Denver.  In her spare time, Kathryn enjoys hiking, camping, going to concerts and exploring all that Denver has to offer.

Bio:

After many years in higher education, Anthony joined MSU Denver as a transfer counselor in spring 2017. He enjoys working collaboratively with some of our local community colleges as well as serving students from the western states. Whether transferring from a local 2-year institution or a faraway 4-year institution, making the move to MSU Denver invites many questions that Anthony is happy to answer. Outside of the office, Anthony likes to spend his time exploring Denver’s restaurant scene, Colorado’s outdoor scenery and an international adventure when possible.

Bio:

As of 2018, Paul is honored to serve veteran and military students who have served our country! As a first-generation college student who earned a master’s degree in education and accumulated over 30 years of experience at MSU Denver, he intimately understands the challenges facing prospective MSU Denver students. Being a prolific innovator of sorts, Paul initiated the first MSU Denver Open House, developed and implemented the first faculty and staff leadership development program known as METROLEADS, and now serves as the first veteran & military student recruiter for MSU Denver’s new Veteran Center. As the recipient of numerous MSU Denver awards, Paul says his greatest achievement is providing guidance that help students move forward to become all they are capable of being. He is very grateful to work at MSU Denver.  

Paul has a passion for the study of leadership and enjoys learning, music, cooking, traveling, art, new ideas, new technology, different cultures, working out and collaborating with co-workers to accomplish goals.
