Consider additional costs

Be sure to add a buffer to your cost estimates to account for books, transportation/parking, and other daily costs associated with attending classes.

Health Insurance

U.S. law requires mandatory health insurance for all graduate and full-time students. MSU Denver sponsors a Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) that remains consistent regardless of age, residency or citizenship status. If you are already insured, you can submit an online waiver to opt out of SHIP coverage at the beginning of each semester.

You are also required to comply with Colorado’s immunization policy by submitting your immunization records to MSU Denver upon acceptance. You can find more information regarding health insurance and immunizations at the Health Center at Auraria.

Financial support opportunities

Graduate students can apply for financial aid.  While there are not as many funding opportunities for graduate students as there are for undergraduate students, the process to apply for aid is simpler.  Take a few minutes to read through the details at the site linked below.

Graduate students may also qualify for various scholarships – be sure to submit your scholarship application each year and pay attention to communications from your academic department about unique scholarship opportunities for students in your program.

The Western Regional Graduate Program (WRGP)

The Western Regional Graduate Program (WRGP) allows residents of the 17-member states/U.S territories (Alaska, Arizona, California, Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and the Federal States of Micronesia) to request the WRGP tuition rate for graduate programs at MSU Denver. To be considered for the WRGP tuition rate, which is currently the same as in-state tuition, you must apply and be accepted into one of MSU Denver’s master’s programs or graduate-level certificates. Once accepted and before the census date, you must apply by completing the WRPG PDF and returning it to [email protected].
