  • A” - Represents a voice cable; it can be a Category 3 thru Category 6A; it can be terminated on a 110 block or on a patch panel; they are labeled on the 110 block or patch panel consecutively   (example 1thru 999 or more); the 110 block or patch panel will have an “ A “ label on it; Cat 6 and Cat 6A will require enough slack inside or outside Terminal Room to re-terminate “ A” cables from 110 block to a patch panel in future to for VOIP. When terminating “A” cables on patch panels; leave plenty of future patch panel space below existing panel as needed for future cables in this area.

     

  • TR” – Represents Terminal Room or Closet cables are home run to.

     

  • 1”  - Represents the Floor in the building.

     

  • S” – Represents which TR or Closet, (example N- North, S- South, E- East, W- West) Some Jack labels may have a different TR or Closet designation, such as a room number, TR labels may be different in each building, (example P1800C, etc.)

     

  • B” – Represents a data cable; it can be a Category 3 thru Category 6A; it can be terminated on a 110 block or on a patch panel; they are labeled on the 110 block or patch panel consecutively (example 1 thru 999 or more); also the 110 block or patch panel will have a “B” label on it; leave plenty of future patch panel space below existing as needed for future cables in this area. Special Note- A and B will always have the same matched Jack number example ( A TR 1S 11 B, A P1800C/11 B ).

     

  • C” – Represents a data cable also, it can be added to an existing AB Jack or individually in  a Lab, Classroom, WAP, Camera or other special applications; it can be Category 3 thru Category 6A; it can be terminated on a 110 block or patch panel; they are labeled consecutively (example 1 thru 999 or more); the 110 block or patch panel will have “C” label on it; leave plenty of future patch panel space below existing as needed for future cables in this area.

     

  • WP” – Represents a voice cable for a wall plate, may be used for wall phones ; it can be a Category 3 thru Category 6A: in the TR or Closet, it can be terminated on a 110 block or on a patch panel; label wp on the designation strip with Jack number (example wp 1, wp 2, wp 3, etc.): “WP” cables are terminated at the bottom row of 110 block or the last section of a patch panel as not to affect the consecutive flow of numbering too much.
