Becoming a Tutor with the 21st Century College Readiness Center:
Metropolitan State University of Denver’s Center for Urban Education (CUE) is seeking Academic Intervention Tutors and Enrichment Program Facilitators for the 21st Century College Readiness Center (21st CCRC) that are offered in Denver Public Schools identified as high-needs: Bruce Randolph School, Kunsmiller Creative Arts Academy, DC21, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Early College, and West Campus. 21st CCRC serves high-need urban youth through four primary goals: (1) Increase academic achievement in mathematics, reading and writing; (2) Increase school participation and engagement; (3) Increase postsecondary education readiness; (4) Increase parent engagement and support of student achievement and postsecondary education readiness.
Work Schedule:

Becoming a 9th Grade College Readiness Summer Camp Mentor:
The Center for Urban Education at Metropolitan State University of Denver is currently recruiting 15 mentors for two 3-week 9thGrade College Readiness Camps. DPS Students will be divided into small teams and matched with college student mentors who will support their active engagement in sessions that are focused on integrating Science, Technology, Engineering, Art or Mathematics (STEAM) and Language Arts (Reading, Writing, Oral Language) with critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork.

Becoming a DPS Summer Credit Recovery Tutor:
The Center for Urban Education (CUE) at Metropolitan State University of Denver and the Denver Public Schools (DPS) are collaborating on a special summer tutoring program that begins on June 18, 2018 and goes until July 13, 2018. The program will focus on intervention support and credit recovery in mathematics, language arts, science and social studies for high school students at five regional sites across the city – Monday – Friday from 7:30 am – 12:30 pm each day.
CUE is hiring 40 tutors for DPS’ Summer Credit Recovery Program. MSU Denver students in all discipline areas may apply, however, we are seeking students with academic backgrounds and content experience in Algebra I and II, Geometry I and II, reading strategies, American Literature, Science courses such as Biology, Chemistry and Earth Science; and Social Studies courses such as U.S. History, Geography, World History. Tutors will be paid $16 per hour, 5hours per day, five days per week. All tutors will be expected to attend a paid orientation and training on June 13 from 8:00 – 4:30 pm, June 15 from 8:00 am -12:00 pm a site-based orientation at the site the week prior to start-up and a de-briefing session at the end of the tutoring assignments.
