Departments, institutes, and centers in LAS sponsor a number of co-curricular activities each year that enrich campus and community life such as Black History Month in February, Women’s History Month in March, a number of local, national and international speakers as well as music events and festivals, theatre performances, and art shows. Students and community members are encouraged to participate in these exciting educational opportunities. In addition, the Institute for Women’s Studies and Services and the Writing Center provide support services to students in need.

The MSU Denver Family Literacy Program (FLP) addresses at-risk children, young adults and adults. The programs are: Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY), Parents as Teachers (PAT); English as a Second Language (ESL) and GED in Spanish. The FLP also provides child-care and education for one to four-year-olds in multiple Denver locations.

The College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP), funded by the U.S. Department of Education, addresses the academic, financial, and social needs of first generation college students from a migratory and seasonal farm worker background.  The program provides intensive retentive and academic support services during the student freshman year and continual support throughout the students’ college experience.
