Applying for Graduate Programs


BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR APPLICATION FOR A GRADUATE PROGRAM, PLEASE BE SURE YOU'VE REVIEWED INFORMATION ABOUT OUR PROGRAMS

  • SUMMER 2017 DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 1st (Application opens January 3rd) (only for students who need to take prerequisites in the summer)

  • FALL 2017 DEADLINE: JUNE 1st (Application opens March 1st)

  • SPRING 2018 DEADLINE: OCTOBER 2nd (Application opens August 1st)

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

 

Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Program Application Requirements

In order to apply to the MAT program for Special Education or Elementary Education, applicants must meet the following requirement:

  • 3.00 minimum GPA

In addition to the above requirements, applicants must submit the following materials*:

  • Completed MSU Denver Graduate Application 
    • Do not complete the MSU Denver Graduate Application until after the School of Education application is available. Please see above for application availability dates.
  • Graduate Application Fee
    • $50 fee paid online through the online MSU Denver Graduate Application
  • ALL official transcripts
    • Preferred delivery methods: Electronic submission. Send Official Electronic Transcripts to: graduateadmission@msudenver.edu (must be sent directly from the institution)
    • Mail official hard copy transcripts to:

  • Resume
  • Criminal History Agreement Form
  • Personal Statement
  • Pre-Requisite Form
    • This form is only necessary if you need to complete prerequisites for the graduate programs. If you are unsure of whether or not you need the prerequisites, please meet with a designated academic advisor for the graduate programs.
    • This form must be completed by the student. Additional signatures are needed from a School of Education representative and a Financial Aid counselor. Please meet with the appropriate departments for signatures.
  • International Student Admissions Documents (if required)



Autism and Significant Support Needs Certificate Application Requirements

In order to apply to the certificate program, applicants must meet the following requirement:

  • Students must have a minimum of an undergraduate degree in Special Education, Special Education Generalist license, or equivalent from a regionally accredited institution; or be accepted in the Master of Arts in Teaching with concentration in Special Education.

 In addition to the above requirements, applicants must submit the following materials:

Non-Degree Seeking Application Requirements

Enrollment as a non-degree seeking student is limited to the following categories:

  1. Individuals who have completed a baccalaureate degree at a regionally accredited institution and whose cumulative undergraduate GPA, or whose GPA from the last 60 hours completed, is 3.0 or higher will be considered on a space available basis.
  2. Individuals who are currently admitted to a graduate program at another regionally accredited institution who wish to take a limited number of classes at Metropolitan State University of Denver will be considered on a space available basis

Non-degree seeking applicants must submit the following materials:
